Wound Care Center

The Wound Care Center at the Vascular Institute of New York provides individualized treatment for patients suffering wounds in their extremities that are chronic and non-healing.

Wounds that will not heal keep you from enjoying many activities, and can severely restrict your overall quality of life. Every one of our individualized treatment methods has a single end goal in mind: To all you to live your life in the fullest way possible.

Because slow-healing wounds are often, if not always, a symptom of other health issues, our specialists take a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment, by first determining the underlying problem and determining treatment options for that along with treatment of the wound or wounds. Eliminating the cause of the existing wounds helps patients avoid the development of additional wounds in the future.

Why Choose Us

The Wound Care Center at the Vascular Institute of New York is committed to providing
world-class care. Our staff provides the most current, state-of-the-art treatments for non-healing wounds of all types.

Every one of the physicians on the Wound Care team is highly trained to offer individualized wound care protocols. Every treatment plan is designed only after evaluating the patient as a whole, allowing us to choose the best method of customized treatment to relieve pain and heal the wound as fast as possible.*

Regardless of the method of treatment, each one is used with a single goal in mind: to relieve pain and decrease the amount of time the wound takes to heal. Based on a patient’s particular medical condition, the physicians will frequently utilize one or more of the following treatment options:

  • Anti-platelet agents and/or anti-clotting medications
  • Antibiotics, if an infection is present
  • Compression garments
  • Current topical wound care therapies
  • Prosthetics and/or orthotics

* Please note that patients with chronic leg or foot ulcers may need to be seen on a more ongoing basis.
